It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the death of a great father, husband, grandfather, brother and uncle. William (Billy) Crawford, age 71, died on Tuesday December 2, 2015 surrounded by family at Brampton Civic Hospital after a short illness.

A devoted husband and cherished companion to Eileen, they relocated their young family from Belfast to Canada. Billy worked as most people do. But his job did not define who he was. Rather it was his commitment to his family that made him what we will all remember.

A great dad, Billy is remembered as a father who was always there. Sitting through countless soccer and baseball games in the blazing heat or drizzly cold. He never complained. Predeceased by his son Kieran in 2001, Billy continued to be a supportive and loving father to Aidan (with Deb) and Roisin (with Holger). His grandchildren, Liam, Julia, Isabelle, Lina, Mats and Abigail were the light of his life and they will miss him terribly. His eyes lit up whenever they entered the room.

Time was Billy’s currency. And he spent his wealth being with those he loved. His Irish humour, his charm and his laughter always had people in stitches. Even in his final moments he managed to get us laughing.

Additionally, he leaves behind 11 siblings (predeceased by his loving sisters Jean and Joan), countless nieces and nephews and numerous in-laws. You were always in his heart even given the distance between you.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff and doctors at Brampton Civic Hospital. Especially thank you to the nurses in ICU and CCU who made his last days special for both Billy and the family.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
