Carlos U. Garcia
April 17, 1960 - August 6, 2015
Carlos Uranza Garcia of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, passed away of natural causes, peacefully during his sleep, in the morning of August 6, 2015 at the age of 55.
Carlos was born in Hondagua, Quezon Province, Philippines on April 17, 1960. He studied at St. Peter’s School (Calauag, Quezon Prov.) and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Major in Marketing at the University of the East (Manila). He furthered his education by studying Reflexology and Chiropractic Care at AKSEM Holistic Medicine International, Philippines.
Carlos is a “Jack-of-all-trades”. For him there’s no job too big or compensation too little. He started working in his early teens selling snacks and memorabilia at the bus terminals and train stations. In his early 20’s, he worked as a long-haul truck driver in Saudi Arabia. On his return to his family in the Philippines, he worked a number of jobs and owned a few small businesses as a bus driver, charcoal packer/seller, tricycle driver, pig farmer and finally a reflexology massage therapist.
He married his college-love, Asuncion “Nancy” Reyes on December 10, 1980. The couple had three kids: Abraham “Brian”, Alejandro “Allen” and Archimedes “Archie”. The family moved to Toronto, Canada on October 10, 1992. In Canada, Carlos became known in the Filipino and South-East Asian community for his service as a Reflexologist, which he performed after his regular work as a labourer in the manufacturing sector. Though not trained in Medicine, his clients and friends considered him a doctor.
Carlos is survived by his wife and sons. He is lovingly remembered by his grandson – Aundray, his daughter-in-law – Laarni (Allen), his father – Ricardo, his siblings – Elizabeth Soriano, Edgar, Gideon, Judith Sumera, Giovanni and Mary Grace, his relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother – Consolation.
