Carmen Wellington
August 12, 1940 - May 15, 2015
Carmen Benilda Wellington, born August 12th, 1940 in Jamaica, The West Indies, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2015 after a long, valiant battle with illness. Carmen was surrounded by family and friends at the end of her journey here on earth, as the love she had shared with so many flowed back to her tenfold to ease her on her way.
Carmen, the daughter of Kathleen and C.A. (Jack) Anderson, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and mentor to many. She is survived by husband Don Wellington, children Ingrid Wilson, Gavin Wellington, Craig Wellington, and Wendy-Ann Browne, and her brothers; Horacio, Alva, Oliver and Gladstone (Andy); and her sister, Yvonne. She doted on her nine grandchildren: Rene, Xana, Jordan, Declan, Brandon, Cameron, Sydney, Ivy, and Isabel; and great-grandaughter Lové.
Carmen also excelled on stage, including acting, speech, and singing.
She never gave up on the faith that drove her, and she became an example of the same to others.
She represented the best of Jamaica: beauty, character, strength, intelligence, and spiritually.
Carmen was a dynamic, vibrant, colourful personality, who lived well, friended strongly, had a deep, abiding faith, and was a wellspring of love and giving. All of those who were touched by her presence and generosity of spirit will carry many cherished memories forever.
We wish you all the opportunity to join us in the celebration of a wondrous life that has touched so many other lives. Carmen has been consistent in her virtue to God, Country, family, and friends. Mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, professional, she has been exceptional.
