George Clayton McClure Cheyne (McClure Cheyne) April 1st, 1929-January 13th, 2017
It’s with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Clure Cheyne. Survived by his wife of 68 years Adrene and his children Mark (Kathy), Jane (Geoff) Mary-Sue (Malcolm) father figure and mentor to Danny and Ginger and predeceased by daughter Laura. Proud grandfather of Dianne, Melissa (Todd), Shawn (Meaghan), Adam, and Liam and great-grandfather to Cameron, Matthew, Jessica and Brock. Past President of the Brampton Curling Club (1985-1986) and lifetime Mason.
A former farmer who began his own construction business (Cheyne Construction), he never retired even when moving to Georgetown. He could be found riding his tractor, puttering around the house, fixing what needed to be fixed and even what didn’t. When he wasn’t fishing, you’d find him 6 am at the arena cheering on his grandchildren.
Their house was always filled with drop-ins, smiles and laughs. Along with us, the birds of Georgetown will miss him, as he always had the feeders filled with premium seed bought at a certain specialty store.
Thanks to the Wednesday Tim Crew, Driver Don and the awesome folks at Martindale Gardens who were there for mom during her time of need.
Family and friends will be received at the SCOTT FUNERAL HOME 289 Main St. N. “Brampton Chapel” (905) 451-1100 on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. Following the visitation a Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 11 am. Burial at Brampton Cemetery 10 Wilson Ave. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to Cancer Assistance Services “CASH” for Halton Hills would be appreciated by the Family.
