Sofie Waliczek
January 25, 1936 - May 16, 2015
The family of Sofie Waliczek is saddened to announce her passing on May 16,
hours after the passing of her sister-in-law, in Germany. Sofie is predeceased by
her husband, Gerhard and her daughters, Anneliese and Trudy. Sofie and
Gerhard moved to Brampton in 1957, from Germany. Sofie was a devoted and
caring mother to Gary (Sandy), Anneliese (Bob), Trudy (Mike), Herb (Janet) and
Manfred (Bonnie). She was a loving Oma to 14 grandchildren and 7 great
grandchildren. Sofie volunteered many hours at the German Canadian Hansa
Haus and sang in the Hansa Haus, Brampton Cardinals and St. Mary's choirs. She
was an employee for many years, at Richter's Delicatessen. Her family was
extremely proud of her courageous and optimistic battle with cancer. Visitation is
at Scott Funeral Home on Tuesday May 19th, 2015 from 6 - 9 p.m. The funeral will take place at
St. Mary's Church on Wednesday, May 20 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations
to Women's Cancers and St. Mary's Church would be appreciated.
