<div itemprop="description">Jessie Elizabeth NEWHOOK <br> <br>NEWHOOK, Jessie Elizabeth (Stanfield) nee Roberts 'The roll has been called up yonder' for Jessie Elizabeth Newhook who passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 21, 2016, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Dr. William H. Newhook of Whitbourne, NL. Devoted and loving mother to William (the late Rosanne), David (Rosa), Donald (Janet), Dr. Lawrence (the late Judy), Cora (Michael). Cherished grandmother to Kathleen, Dr. Timothy (Dr. Alexandra), Jonathan (Rhonda), Alana (fiancé Grant), Steven, Kevin, Jessie; great-grandmother to Jazmin and Grace Ann. Predeceased by parents Edmund and Bessie Roberts. Loving sister to Belle (Archibald), Daisy (Richard), Lawrence (Reta), Mayme, William (Amelia) Evelyne (Earl), Fred and surviving siblings, Edmund (Irene) and Jeanette (Jim), brother-in-law Fred Cooling and sister-in-law Margaret Roberts. Aunty Beth to many nieces and nephews. Honoured step-mother to the late Ruth, Winifred, Robert, Patricia, Mavourneen and surviving step-son Albert (Lucy). Elizabeth was an intelligent, selfless woman of determined strength and deep faith. She was a proud member of the Canadian Women's Army Corp, attaining the ranks of Corporal and Acting Sergeant in World War ll. When her children were younger, she was actively involved in Mississauga's Applewood United Church as an Elder and choir member. Elizabeth loved music of all types, had a wonderful sense of humour, and always believed in the innate goodness of people. <br> <br>The family would like to thank Doreen Rose and the 'parade of angels' for their excellent care of Elizabeth at the Villages of Sandalwood Park. A special thank-you to Dr. Harry Earle, a fellow Newfoundlander, whose medical care and wise advice gave great comfort, helping the family to understand the effects of dementia and the aging process. <br> <br>Thank you to all who have expressed your heartfelt condolences. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Scott Funeral Home, 289 Main Street North, Brampton, L6X-1N5. Immediate family: 11-12, friends and family: 12-1 p.m., with the celebration of Elizabeth's life starting at 1:00 p.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or a charity of one's choice. <br></div>
