John (Red) Reid peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday March 18th, 2016 at the age of 88. Born June 10th, 1927 in the city of Toronto to John and Margaret Reid of Aberdeen, Scotland. Cherished big brother of Teresa, and to the late Ken and Peggy.
John (Red) is survived by his loving wife Patricia Reid, married for 64 glorious years. He is the beloved father of Kelly, Kathryn and Ken, and father in-law to Loriano and Leesa. Treasured grandfather to Erinn, Roger, Kirstyn, Nicholas, Ryan, Megan, Parker, and Garrett. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
An avid golfer, a lover of literature, and a widely optimistic Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. He was a positive and selfless man, who always had a smile on his face. His generous and kind spirit will live on through us all forever.
In memory of John Reid, please make donations to Credit Valley Hospital Foundation and request to have it directed to the Radiation Department. Where in the words of John he received "bloody marvellous care!"
